Wilmington has a historic river district and island beaches known for beauty, charm, Southern hospitality, and nautical legacy that spans centuries.. Nestled on the southeastern coast of North Carolina between the Atlantic Ocean and the Cape Fear River, the region encompasses Wilmington, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wrightsville Beach. It has some of the best surfing on the East Coast and is also great for other outdoor water sports such as kayaking and paddle boarding. The climate is mild most of the year, allowing plenty of time to enjoy outdoor activities.
Wilmington, NC also has close proximity to some of the nation’s best universities for soccer and academics such as: University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Duke, NC State, UNC Wilmington and many others. These locations are only a quick road trip away from Wilmington. The city of Wilmington also has a successful movie industry, with the largest studio outside of California. It has produced films like Iron Man 3 and We’re the Millers. While it does have plenty to do and see, Wilmington doesn’t lose its charm. It is easily navigated and usually a quick trip from one area to the next.
